
Senna is a small shrub grows in the area of the Nile of North Africa (Cassia angustifolia). Over 3500 years ago, ancient Egyptian doctors used Senna for royalty parents and the aristocracy. Arab medical specialist has been using Senna as far back 9th century A.D. It was first introduced in Europe during the Crusade and was very popular as an effective herbal medicine. While available as single product, senna is often combined with a variety of aromatic herbs.
Senna naturally grows in the most tropical regions in the world. Both sides of the leaves and seeds can be used as medicinal. It is used as an active ingredient in many medical products such as Senokot, Fletcher Castoria, and Ex-Lax Gentle Nature. Senna can solve the problems of constipation by stimulating the colon whereby speeding along the passage of the contents.
